Tween Workshop

SPRING 2024

Tuesdays or Wednesdays, 3:30 pm – 5:30 pm

Grades 5 – 8

Tuition: $895

Tween actors will experience a professional rehearsal process, coupled with theatre games and acting exercises designed to fit their learning levels. The tweens will dive deeper into their work as actors as they endeavor to gain confidence and knowledge about all aspects of theatre and performance.

About our process: When you sign up for an audition, you are signing up for the session! We do not make 'cuts.' Auditions and Callbacks are simply a way for us to get to know our actors each session, and for them to gain confidence and comfortability with the audition process. Instead of choosing a show in advance and shoehorning children into it, we choose our shows, and our schedule for the semester, based on the schedules and auditions/callbacks of the actors who sign up. Our emphasis is on the process of putting on a show, integrating theater games and acting exercises throughout the rehearsals.

For the audition, please record a video of a brief monologue, and a brief song, and send them via Dropbox (the link will be sent in the registration confirmation email) by January 21. Each audition piece should be under one minute long. Choose material you enjoy performing, and that shows you off!  If you need assistance finding a monologue, email galit@arcstages.org. We are happy to help!

We will have in-person 'callbacks' on Wednesday, January 24 from 3:30 – 5:30 pm, to have actors read and sing from potential shows. By trying out different shows and material, we are seeing what shows (and how many) will best fit our actors that session. Our aim is to challenge our actors in different ways each session they sign up at Arc. We endeavor to nurture our actors, instill self-confidence, and a love for the process of putting on a show. Tween rehearsals begin the week of February 5. Each cast will have the final performances of their show in May or June 2024, depending on the schedule. If we have sufficient enrollment, there will be two separate Tween casts and shows, one rehearsing on Tuesdays, one on Wednesdays. Actors rehearse the same day every week, until tech week.

We do offer payment plans. Please contact us at info@arcstages.org for more information.

Teen Intensive
