Tween Workshop

Grades 5 – 7

Either Mondays or Wednesdays 3:30PM – 5:30 PM

Tuition: $775

Tween actors will experience a professional rehearsal process, coupled with theatre games and acting exercises designed to fit their learning levels. The tweens will dive deeper into their work as actors as they endeavor to gain confidence and knowledge about all aspects of theatre and performance.

About our process: When you sign up for an audition, you are signing up for the session! We do not make ‘cuts.’ Auditions are simply a way for us to get to know our actors each session, and for them to gain confidence and comfortability with auditioning. Instead of choosing a show in advance and shoehorning children into it, we choose our shows, and our schedule for the semester, based on the schedules and auditions/callbacks of the actors who sign up. Our emphasis is on the process of putting on a show, integrating theater games and acting exercises throughout the rehearsals.

All auditioners are asked to come to callbacks the next day. At callbacks, we try out scenes from different potential shows, all learn a piece of a song together, etc. By trying out different shows and material with the entire group, we are seeing what shows (and how many) will best fit our actors that session. Our aim is to challenge our actors in different ways each session they sign up at Arc. We endeavor to nurture our actors, instill self-confidence, and a love for the process of putting on a show.

Sign up for an audition! For the audition, please prepare a 1 minute song and a 1 minute monologue. Auditions will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2017 from 12:00PM – 4:00PM.

Please sign up for an audition timeslot on our website. All sections audition on the same day.

Note: All should be prepared to come back on Sunday, September 17 from 1:00pm-3:30pm for callbacks.

Teen Intensive

A conservatory program, the Teen Intensive will consist of professional training from actors and directors with extensive experience in the business. Rehearsals will include technique in acting, musical theatre, singing, dance, and improv. This Intensive will culminate in a full-length play or musical theatre production.

ADULT CLASSES

Master Class With Joanna Gleason: Story For Story

Participants bring a ballad from Broadway, Off-Broadway or just any great song from the American Songbook (Berlin, Gershwin, Rodgers and Hart, or even Billy Joel, Paul Simon, James Taylor, etc.) There’s no emphasis on performance during the class, though pieces become more audition ready. Often, other actors from class assist in the exercises. The actors are invested in each other’s work, learning even as observers and adjunct participants. The goal is to keep the actor from worrying about the unessentials: how am I doing, how do I look, how do I sound, etc.
Open to ages 18 and up!

THIS CLASS HAS BEEN POSTPONED AND WILL NOW BE HELD ON

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 2nd from 12-4pm; $125
